Here is a map of the location we will be working Saturday morning.

I hope there is a coffee shop close, and maybe a donut shop. Also, has anyone booked a message person to come out? My shoulders get stiff if I paint too much for too long.

I figure we will paint from 8-8:15 and then take a 2 hour break and start back up around 10:15, paint until 10:30 and then break for another hour.

Sound good? I would ask Dan but I think he is napping under the shade tree right now!

Are you guys ready to paint! Our project this Saturday is working with several other small groups to paint a house in the community.

So, come ready to paint! Remember, breakfast is at 7:15 and then we will head out to the community to get started.

I am sorry I won't be able to serve with you, but I will be able to have breakfast with you. Keep an eye on Dan, he is natorious for "going for more paint" and then taking a nap under a shade tree.

Tom -- don't forget a hat. I would hate for you to blister you head! Ha Ha.

Seriously, thanks for serving. It will be awesome to bless those who need blessing. That is one aspect of "striving for Christ-Centered Lives!"

Amazing Data on Moses (Interesting food for thought believed to be true.)

Here are a few factoids for the next time you might read the book of Exodus
_______________________________________
Moses and the people were in the desert, but what was he going to do with
them? They had to be fed and feeding 2 or 3 million people requires a lot of food.

It is said, that according to a Quartermaster General of the Army, it is estimated that
Moses would have to have had 1500 tons of food each day.

Do you know that to bring that much food each day, two freight trains, each
about a mile long, would be required!

Besides you must remember, they were out in the desert, so they would have
to have firewood to use in cooking the food. This would take 4000 tons of
wood and a few more freight trains, each a mile long, just for one day.
And just think, they were forty years in transit.

And oh yes! They would have to have water. If they only had enough to drink
and wash a few dishes, it would take 11,000,000 gallons each day and a
freight train with tank cars, 8 miles long, just to bring water!

And then another thing! They had to get across the Red Sea at night. Now, if they went on a narrow path, double file, the line would be about 700 miles long and would require 35
days and nights getting through. So there had to be a space in the Red Sea,
2.8 miles wide so that they could walk 5000 abreast (500 rows deep) to get over in one night.

But then, there is another problem each time they camped at the end of the
day, a campground two-thirds the size of the state of Rhode Island was
required, or a total of 750 square miles long think of it! This much space
for camping.

Do you think Moses figured all this out before he left Egypt? I think not!

You see, Moses believed in God. God took care of these things for him.
Now do you think God has any problem taking care of all your needs?

Hey Group!

I think we should get together early this Sunday -- say 4:30 pm to lament the loss of the Reichmann's. After we lament, then we can praise God for answering their prayers! (For those of you who don't know, the Reichmann's last Sunday will be this Sunday and then they move!).

I am going to throw out two options. We could all meet at 4:30 at Cherry Berry (Beside Price Cutter and Qdoba) and have some ice cream (Dan said he was buying....) Or, we could meet in the Ridgecrest room and have Pot Luck of deserts. Send me your thoughts.

First, can you make it at 4:30?
Second, would you rather meet at Cherry Berry or do a desert pot luck?

I'm all ears! I am not even sure that the Reichmann's can make it, but we will hope they can!

Rare Breed meeting canceled!

When securing the expectations of Ridgecrest volunteers working with at-risk teens at Rare Breed, I understood volunteers were required to complete a day of training plus read a manual at another time. Yesterday afternoon I learned Rare Breed requires 150 hours of training for volunteers. Since this is more of a commitment than most people can give, I have canceled our meeting scheduled for Sunday at 5:00 p.m.

If you can complete the 150 hours of training, please let me know. Rare Breed would be delighted to have additional trained volunteers.

I continue to dialogue with Rare Breed about additional ways we can be part of their ministry of rescuing at-risk teens.

Please make sure the members of your Faith Family know about the cancellation of this meeting.

Read the Bible for Life Week 8-9
Happy Friday Faith Family Members!

This will be the last email I send out in relation to our study, “Read the Bible for Life.” I hope you have learned from this study. I have received a lot of feedback from this study, some great, some not-so-great, but I hope every one of us have grown as it relates to understanding how to read God’s Word, how to understand God’s Word, and how to respond to God’s Word.

God speaks to us through His Word, so if you have learned anything in relation to that, then consider this 10-week journey a success!

Let’s take a few minutes and just reflect on what we have learned. See if you can remember one or two things as I ask a few questions:

1) How should you approach the stories of the Old Testament? What should you be looking for?

2) As we read the Old Testament stories, what aspects can we apply to our lives?

3) How should we approach the Law of the Old Testament? What should we look for when reading the Law of the Old Testament?

4) What about the Prophets? If you read the book of Jeremiah, or the book of Isaiah as example, what do you look for as it relates to God speaking through the book and into your life?

5) How can the Psalms help you in your prayer life? How can the Psalms help you continually praise the Almighty?

6) When you read the New Testament Stories, what do you look for? What things should you be taking into account when reading New Testament Stories? How can you get the most out of your study of New Testament Stories?

7) What about the teachings of Jesus? When we read a parable of Jesus, what should we be looking for and how should we apply it to our lives?

8) What should we remember when we read a New Testament letter, such as the epistles (Galatians, Ephesians, Corinthians, et)?

9) How should we approach Revelation? John uses Symbols throughout the book, such as the expression of lampstands and dragons. How do we understand those symbols?

10) How important is the Bible in your life? Is it the center of your life or just a small piece of your life? How do we begin to move it the center of our lives? (This will be what we study next week)

If you are serious about spiritual transformation, then you must be serious about God’s Word! I hope you have grown in a few of the questions above. If you have not, then I strongly encourage you to spend some time working through your workbook, or reading the book that goes along with this study. I promise you will grow and learn!

There are some great supplemental information articles in this week’s information. Take some time and review these articles (especially the article on scripture memorization!).

There are just two weeks left of this study and then we will move into the actual process of reading through the primary stories of God’s Word. If you have spent the time in these lessons, you will be very equipped to apply God’s Word to your life as we actually work our way through Genesis through Revelation!

Welcome to week 6 of our study. This Sunday we move into the New Testament beginning with the understanding how to read the stories of the New Testament. Hey guys!

Don't forget -- we start back this Sunday evening at 5:15 in room 113/115. If you want to learn more about the Bible, how to study it, what it means and how to apply it, you don't want to miss a single lesson!

I am fired up, have read 1/2 of the book, watched most of the video's and am ready to go!

Someone bring the brownies, I'll brew the coffee and we will all work to keep Tom from running down rabbit trails!

I hated missing class last night! So much good scripture to study!

I have decided to move our class to room 113/115 from this point forward. DRS was a huge success last night in room 138, so to avoid confusion in the future, lets just move to 113/115. I like that room really well anyway.

We will be studying James 3:13-17 this Sunday if you want to get a jump start on things.

A couple of questions to for you to ponder as you read through the scripture:
1. James says that there are several sources of wisdom -- what are they?
2. How would you describe these types of wisdom?
3. How do we find Godly wisdom?
4. After reviewing all the scriptures, what areas do you need to work on?

Here are several other supportive type scriptures:

How about this question -- Is wisdom intellectual or behavioral?
