Welcome

Join this co-ed group, ages 40-60, meeting at 9:00 am on Sundays in room 232. We welcome you to our faith family. Here are some things we think you might like to know.

FELLOWSHIP: Let’s begin with the fun things first. We believe our faith is strengthened by spending quality time with each other. We all have hectic lives, however, when we find time to enjoy each other’s company we find that our class discussions are more lively and energetic and we increase our feeling of belonging to the body of Christ. We periodically have Sunday lunches together and because our group is diverse, we have at times had a number of activities to include: canoe/camping trips with the kids, mini golf, regular golf tournaments, game nights, fantasy football league, annual visits to the corn maze, annual Christmas party with ornament exchange and our annual Super Bowl/game board party. We are always open to new ideas! We have first time married couples, dating couples, blended families and singles. Our youngest couple in their 30’s and our oldest member is in their 70’s. We like the diversity as it adds a richness to our class discussions.

PHILOSOPHY: We believe in a process that is called Belong, Believe and Behave. All of our members wear name tags because we want you the visitor to feel more comfortable. We call our group Harmony because in our society achieving harmony is so hard to do. All of us have a sense of belonging- a real need. The more we feel like we belong to the body of Christ, the more our faith is strengthened and our walk with the Lord increases. As we grow stronger in our walk and become better disciples of Christ our behavior begins to change and we share more greatly in the fruits of the Spirit. We know our salvation is secured, the challenge here on Earth is how can we strengthen our relationship with others and with Christ so our lives will be more in harmony. Many of members are involved in other ministries at Ridgecrest that include: childhood ministries, Celebrate Recovery, bus duty, and Angel Food to just name a few.

MESSAGE FROM THE TEACHER: I follow the Socratic method of instruction, which means I ask a lot of questions. If I am the only one talking then I am the only one learning. Let me reassure you though, that I only call on those whose hands are up. I also never call on a person to pray. It is strictly voluntary. When I was a new believer, the Bible overwhelmed me so I want to make sure those less secure in a biblical foundation do not feel out of place. I desire that you have clarity in your understanding of God and that is always best accomplished through discussion. I want to hear your thoughts on your faith and I know the class needs to hear it.

We follow the guidance of the Ridgecrest staff in the content of the class and we are currently studying the book of James. In the past we have studied Revelation, Facing Your Giants by Max Lucado, Armor of God, Psalm 23, Waking the Dead by John Eldridge and The Shack by William P. Young. The Shack was done as an optional weekend retreat in Branson. We also did a weekend study of the Song of Solomon for couples only.

Come join us on our adventure in Christianity.
